Clinical overview
The ProTack™ device delivers helical titanium tacks to fix prosthetic material such as hernia mesh to soft tissue, and is a long-established workhorse for laparoscopic hernia repair. The helical (corkscrew) tack screws into tissue to anchor the mesh securely, giving permanent fixation where the surgeon wants a durable mechanical hold rather than an absorbable one. The device comes pre-loaded in a 30-tack configuration and passes through a standard 5 mm laparoscopic trocar. It is supplied sterile for single-procedure use. Titanium is well tolerated, though it remains in the patient permanently — some surgeons prefer absorbable fixation (see the AbsorbaTack™ device) to reduce the amount of retained hardware. Tack count and placement pattern are chosen by the surgeon based on defect size and mesh overlap. Available for export; confirm your trocar sizing and preferred fixation type at the time of quote.
